The air intake to a PTO drive chipper chipper is important, because free air flow to the fan determines how far the chips fan be blown.  If the chipper is turned at 1000rpm one has enough blowing power to fill a 40 foot long chip trailer. Through the air intake one can see a knife and the heavy wings of the fan. The air intake is in a safe location behind the PTO shaft. It is facing the tractor so the noise created by the chipping is directed away from the operator.
