The SGR76-ML version of the Valby tractor grapple skidder attachment has a mechanical hinge lock which locks the frame in place when the grapple is transported without a load. This version enables the operator to lock the hinge in place from the tractor's seat. The rope controlled hinge lock should be put into the locked position when one is driving out with an empty grapple. If the lock is not engaged, the grapple will flop back and forth, side to side. The hinge lock enables the operator to place the grapple on top of a load and grab it. If the load is lifted entirely off of the ground, one can leave the lock in the lock position. If one is skidding out longer trees, where the tree is dragging on the ground, then one has to release the hinge lock. The load can now follow the tractor through turns.
